Ash Chen is an interdisciplinary graphic designer and researcher, born in China and currently studying at UCA London, UK. My work spans branding, digital media, and photography.
My work explores and focuses on the application of critical design in graphic design. Through multimedia and conceptual design, I explore themes such as data visualization, existentialism, and emotion. Interdisciplinary approaches and psychoanalytic thinking are at the core of my practice.
For me, design is not just a means of solving practical problems, but also a language tool. In today's increasingly automated and complex world, how can we redefine the role of designers? Therefore, I focus not only on traditional design needs such as function and service, but also on broader issues such as science, culture, and society that are often underconsidered in traditional design. Through methods such as anti-functionalism, I aim to unlock the potential of design and enhance public cultural awareness.
